Message from Dr. Vasanth Kumar Shetty

“We all have dreams, But in order to make those dreams into a reality, it takes an awful lot of determination, dedication, self-discipline and effort”- Jesse Owens.

The journey in developing my dreams into a reality did require a lot of determination, dedication, hard work and team effort.
Over the time, I have met students from different backgrounds, few of them who had to unfortunately travel a long distance just to get to school, due to the lack of the same in their rural home towns. The plight of one such ex student, Shashidar Shenoy, who used to travel daily all the way from Puttur along with his mother became a huge inspiration and a motivational factor to me in opening a residential school for the specially challenged.
Starting a school is a huge commitment. My wife, Usha and I sacrificed a lot in order to build something new. Consequently, we discontinued the paying guest facilities and laid a foundation to a new beginning. By God’s grace the school that started in the year 2003, July 7th, with just two students and a single teacher, eventually grew with the sheer dedication and hard work of the Trustees and the Hon. Advisor. Today, Saanidhya has 166 students and 65 teaching and non – teaching staff.
One question that lingers in every parents mind is, “Who after me?” Owing to this, we at Shree Ganesha Seva Trust with the help of our well wishers are now able to provide a life time stay for the Adult male Intellectually Disabled persons.

With the collaboration of ‘District Health and Family Welfare Department’ D.K. District and ‘TV 9’ news channel, we have also started Saanidhya Skill Training Centre for Endosulfan Victims (day care) at Ujire in January 2019. Currently, we are providing skill training for 40 special students.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam said, “You have to dream before your dreams can come true”. My journey certainly began with a dream but became a reality by God’s blessings, also with support and cooperation of all our Donors, Philanthropists and well wishers.
Our task is not yet complete. We still have a whole lot to accomplish in this beautiful unending journey working for the welfare of God’s children. And we will continue to work towards the fulfillment of this noble venture.
